Owen Merritt
Senior Project Engineer
Meet Owen Merritt, a driven and dependable asset to the ENO team. Owen plays a key role in delivering top-tier field execution, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and accountability. He is committed to delivering the highest-quality product to owners while ensuring every team member works in a safe environment and returns home each day. In addition to his field leadership, Owen supports procurement tracking, change management, submittal review, and preconstruction efforts.
Owen was born and raised in Hillsborough, North Carolina, where he developed a passion for construction while working alongside his grandfather on residential and land development projects. He attended Appalachian State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management with a minor in Sustainable Technology. During his time at App State, Owen served as Vice President of Finance and was recognized as Club Council Member of the Year at the Black and Gold Banquet in 2022.
After graduating, Owen joined a leading general contracting firm in Research Triangle Park, where he became an integral member of a large team delivering a $300 million pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. He later expanded his experience in the commercial sector, managing both field and project management responsibilities for a key client. Over the course of one year, he worked on 27 projects, gaining extensive experience in interior upfits and client relations.
Owen then played a key role in constructing the structure for a $400 million project in RTP, a first-of-its-kind mass timber cGMP facility. His responsibilities included extensive coordination of cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, curtain wall systems, structural mass timber, and miscellaneous metals. In addition, Owen successfully passed the NASCLA exam, qualifying him to obtain a general contractor license in 18 states.
Outside of work, Owen enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Maddie, and their two dogs, Gus and Lucy. His interests include golf, DIY projects, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
