Daniel Recktenwald

Project Manager

Daniel Recktenwald is a Project Manager with extensive experience delivering complex construction projects across the healthcare, life sciences, education, and public sectors. In his role, Daniel oversees projects from planning through completion, ensuring teams deliver high-quality, functional spaces that meet client goals. He specializes in medical construction and brings a strong background in both private and public work, including hard bid and CM at-Risk delivery methods.

Daniel has worked as both a Superintendent and Project Manager on a wide range of projects, including ground-up hospital additions, major hospital interior renovations, operating rooms,  and imaging rooms. His experience also includes the construction of large community centers, parks, and educational facilities, giving him a well-rounded understanding of complex stakeholder coordination and schedule-driven work.

After graduating from Virginia Tech, Daniel began his career as a Combat Engineer Officer in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a Platoon Commander before deploying to Iraq, where he acted as a base construction manager and combat advisor to the Iraqi Army. Following active duty, he continued his service in the Marine Corps Reserves as a Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer while transitioning into the construction industry.

Daniel began his civilian construction career as a Superintendent for a small general contractor before joining Monteith Construction, where he spent seven and a half years progressing from Assistant Superintendent to Lead Superintendent and ultimately Project Manager. During that time, he managed medical, office, education, and community center projects valued up to $35 million under hard bid, negotiated, and CM at-Risk contracts.

Daniel has delivered projects for major healthcare systems including UNC Hospitals, WakeMed, FirstHealth, and Conway Medical, as well as community and education projects for the City of Raleigh, Town of Cary, Wake Technical Community College, Jewish for Good, and The Lucy Daniels Center.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and has formal construction management training from the Marine Corps Combat Engineer Officer School. Daniel is OSHA 30 and ASHE certified.

Originally from Durham, North Carolina, Daniel now lives in Raleigh with his wife and their three sons. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family at the beach and youth sports with his sons as well as hunting, fishing, and mountain biking.
